Cressi Start Pro BCD

The Cressi Start Pro is Cressi’s entry-level buoyancy compensator device (BCD), aimed at beginner divers and dive centres that need durable, easily serviced equipment. Its outer shell combines 1000-Denier Cordura on high-friction zones (pockets, shoulder pads) with 500-Denier Cordura on the main body — a combination that extends the vest’s lifespan under the intensive use of courses or rental fleets.

The inflator features a dual air-filtration system that reduces sediment build-up. Cargo pockets are wide, with velcro closures. The semi-rigid backplate is lightweight and accommodates any standard cylinder with a single cam buckle strap. The abdominal band is independent from the bladder, preventing compression during full inflation — a comfort feature that matters on longer dives.

Its limitations match the entry-level tier: no integrated quick-release weight system (found in mid-range models like the Cressi Aquaride), limited cargo pocket volume, and no adjustable back-plate for torso length. For Open Water courses and recreational diving to 30 m it is a dependable, widely distributed option. In Argentina it is available through Cressi-authorized dive shops and importers; MercadoLibre AR availability is variable.

When to use it in Argentina

A jacket-style BCD designed as a school and entry-level unit. For certifying in Las Grutas or Mar del Plata it does the job: simple fit, accessible valves, capacity suited to recreational diving on the Atlantic coast.

In Puerto Madryn with a 7 mm wetsuit, try the size with the full neoprene, not dry. For drysuit diving in Andean lakes (Nahuel Huapi, Traful) most divers prefer a wing or back-inflate BCD for cleaner buoyancy — the Start Pro falls short there.
