Suunto Zoop Novo Dive Computer

The Suunto Zoop Novo has long been the go-to entry-level wrist dive computer recommended in Argentina for students and recreational divers. It offers five operating modes (air, nitrox, gauge, freediving and off), a large backlit display, and a 50-hour logbook. The straightforward menu-based interface can be operated underwater without extensive practice beforehand.

Suunto’s conservative RGBM algorithm adds a safety margin through optional deep safety stops and ascent rate warnings. It accepts nitrox mixes up to 99% O₂ with pO₂ adjustable from 1.0 to 1.6 bar. Log downloads to PC/Mac require the proprietary cable sold separately — a consistently criticized omission in user reviews. The CR2450 battery lasts around 300 hours in dive mode and is user-replaceable.

Its main limitation is the lack of wireless Bluetooth connectivity: dive planning and logbook analysis require the physical cable and Suunto DM5 software. For recreational diving within no-decompression limits it is more than adequate; it is not designed for technical diving or multiple gas mixes. The included screen protector tends to crack quickly according to several Argentine users on dive forums. A comparable alternative is the Mares Puck Pro+, sometimes cheaper through importers but with inconsistent availability in Argentina.
