The Cressi Big Eyes Evolution is a twin-lens mask featuring the “Big Eyes” system: lenses tilted 15° and extended below the cheekbones, expanding the lower field of vision by more than 30% compared to a conventional mask. Its internal volume is 115 cm³, placing it in the medium-volume category — not as low-profile as the F1, but without sacrificing lateral vision or fit comfort.
The “EVO” facial skirt combines two types of silicone: a firmer compound at the upper contact zones (forehead and cheeks) that maintains shape and prevents deformation, and a softer sealing edge that adapts to different facial geometries. The Crystal version uses fully transparent silicone, exclusive to Cressi, which resists yellowing and lens fogging better than standard silicone compounds. It is available with corrective lenses for myopia from -1 to -6 diopters.
The 100% pivoting strap buckles facilitate adjustment with diving gloves, a detail appreciated by cold-water divers. The only consistently noted weakness: the buckles on some production batches start stiff and need a few dives to break in. It is a strong choice for intermediate divers who prioritize field of vision and long-term fit comfort over the minimalism of a low-volume mask. A product page exists on MercadoLibre AR, though availability is inconsistent.
When to use it in Argentina
A wide-view mask with inverted-teardrop lenses. Works well on Mar del Plata wrecks where peripheral vision helps read the structure, and on boat dives in Madryn when tracking sea lions or dolphins without turning the whole head.
For freediving in Las Grutas or Mar Chiquita its volume is higher than dedicated freediving masks — it is not the first pick for deep breath-hold diving. In the cold waters of the Beagle Channel the larger volume also means more surface to fog up: apply a good anti-fog treatment before every dive.
